Background

2407_1Historically, the Guadalquivir River has been one of the world’s commercial centres, being the Port of the Indies in the 16th century. Since the 1992 Universal Exposition, the focus of its activities has been sought to be on the sphere of leisure, sports and on the restaurant business.

Kabira is an initiative focused on extracting from the Guadalquivir river its complete sports and cultural potential, by carrying out projects and events that emphasise the value of one of Spain’s most important river basins.

By recognizing the value of the natural setting offered by the river, Kabira intends to bring a heterogeneous public closer to nature and to the practice of non-overcrowded sports such as rowing, canoeing and kayaking.
